What is the world coming to? PageRank glitch or bug?

Probably you might be asking exactly the same question as me if you know someone who gets a pr 5 for his blog by not doing anything. If you ask me, its more of a miracle or a freak case than anything. As more users come to embrace internet in their life, to the point of trying to strike their fortune there, they will realize that pretty much everything have to link to Google. As Google expands, its services would also be used by many more people, and if the majority of users use Google, its importance would rise.

What is the simple way to make a living online?
Use Google's adsense on your Google Blogger's blog.

How do I go about doing it?
Register on blogger, and adsense. The thing about ads is to get as many eyeballs on it as possible, so the probability of it being click will rise. So get more internet traffic on your site.

Uh-huh..?
The main idea is to get more traffic. There are many ways, great content, deep linking, communities, stubleupon etc. and of course Google's search engine.

What?
Google's search engine. Do not underestimate the search engine's ability to get traffic, its importance is reaffirmed by the number of people talking about SEO which is Search Engine Optimization. You start reading stuff like, "What? Don't know? Go google it!"

So how do I know how easily I get search?
You will know by finding out your page rank, which is Google's way telling you how they rank you in their search results. The higher rank you get, the higher you appear in search results.

How important is page rank?
Anybody who has a blog probably knows and checks their page rank from time to time. That's how important it is.

This is where the problem is. As people try to get their sites on Google's search engine, page rank becomes even more important. Is not like if you can say: "What? Your page rank is high? Whatever, that's only Google's search engine.." Most probably the site is popular elsewhere as well. The thing is, page rank has become more or less a standard for how well your site is doing overall, something like Alexa's ranking too.

So when a blog that is less than two month old, has very few updates, and no linking by any high page rank site, or for the matter, any linking at all, and still manages to get a page rank of 5, something is very wrong.. I mean, "what is the world coming to?" This probably wouldn't sit right with people who spend countless nights optimizing, improving their site, but get page rank or 1 or 2 after 6 months.

I'm not blaming the blogger who get PR 5 for doing nothing, I mean sometimes, something screws up and you strike lottery. But, to the rest of the people out there slogging their nights out, try to take it in your stride.. it happens.. all this buzz would more likely get more traffic to "them". Yes, there are more of them, the lucky ones.

Here's one blogger, Jacky, who is utterly upset about finding out about the blog.

Here's another blogger, Omar, who is utterly delighted about finding out about his page rank one day.

So really, what's the world coming to? If page rank screws up, i can't imagine the number of man-hours wasted by mankind on Google..

Google

"When I think of Microsoft, I see millions of PCs with its sucky windows, but when I think of Google, I can only see the words 'G-o-o-g-l-e'."
